Two down one to go

Hello everyone, as I told everyone we have Henry and Oliver at home and it has been great. They have adapted very well to having mommy and daddy around and getting spoiled with kisses! The NICU had them on a 3 hours schedule but the nurses said to put them 4 hour schedule it took them a day to adjust but have been sleeping pretty good between the feedings. The only way we are telling Henry and Oliver apart is that I keep Henry is something sort of blue and Oliver in Brown we have saved Green for Alex.

Henry is a trooper and loves to eat! He doesn't have a favorite chair or spot yet he is just happy to be held, or wrapped up tight or just hanging out. Pretty happy baby. Just before it is time to eat he likes to pretend to cry with a quiet and slow "wah" like hey I am crying but not really.

Oliver he continues to be a ham, one of the NICU nurses had a crush on him and would spend time with him at feedings, so now he takes his time and likes to look around and do everything but eat it is still pretty cute. He also is pretty happy and likes to give daddy dirty looks we call it the Oliver face.
Alex, well our little guy isn't sprung from the pokie just yet. He hit 4lbs this week and was taking out of the isolate but had a pretty hard day yesterday. He dropped some weight and couldn't maintain his heat, then during a feeding he stopped breathing for a second. These are all "normal" things for preemies so it just means he will be there for a few more days while he gets stronger and bigger.

Getting your kids home from the NICU

Since Henry isn't home tonight let me fill you all in on the details of our last 48 hours. On Saturday we came in to see that Henry and Oliver were both being bottle feed each feeding, once they mastered that and could hold there own tempature they could come home. Alex was on every other feeding but was catching up quickly.

So on Sunday we walked in to see Henry in an open crib and his feeding tube out of his nose, which was great. The doctor came over and said that Henry was "ready to fly" we said when and he suggested he was going to work on his discharge papers. We mentioned that the hospital had our car seats. (remember they bought them for us) but we would be happy to work it out. The doctor said ok well then he can go tomorrow. We spoke for about a hour about everything and what to get etc etc so we thought well we better get to the store for the formula, special baby wipes and get the house cleaned up for the next week or so.

This morning I called the NICU to ask if Henry was coming home. The main nurse said she heard Henry might be coming home but the doctor didn't make the rounds yet. He started at 9:00am and she would give me a call to let me know. 12:30pm later daddy called and was told no he wasn't going home today.

Apparently, the doctor today (a different one) decided that since they changed his formula yesterday he wanted to keep him today to see how he did. Ugh.... It is strange since the other doctor would of let us walk out the door... The nurse told Daddy just rest up and get ready. How can we rest the NICU may or may not call depending on the next doctor to walk in the door about us coming to pick up our kids.....

Henry Update

Someone is coming home!!! Either tomorrow or the next Mr Henry (as the doctor calls him) is on his way home. We asked the nurses yesterday and they said maybe next week, we came to visit today and they said, tomorrow! We are very excited and had a million questions BUT he is ready to be home. He has been eating really well and is up to almost 4.5lbs. Here are some pictures of our big guy.

Oliver Updates

Oliver does not want to be out done by his brother. He is feeding by the bottle every feeding like
Henry. Dad fed him the other night and he tried to do everything other than eat, it was very funny. But he does eat. While he was in his incubator today they are going to take him out either tonight or tomorrow. We are thinking they might discharge him in the next couple of days. Here are some latest photos of Ollie.

Alex Update

The new news on Alex! There weights change everyday but he is almost at the 4lb mark which is great. He is also working on bottle feeding every other feeding but that might change either later tonight or tomorrow to every feeding. He has done a great job sucking so the doctors are working on him catching up with his brothers. We are hoping he will be home by the end of the week. Here are some photos of our little guy. The dark blue outfit is a preemie size the light blue is a NB you can see how big the new born size is on him.
